Mid-Wheel 6 drive and Active-Trac suspension handle the rest, indoors and out. All of it runs on two 12 volt batteries wired as a 24 volt pair, and the elevation motor draws from that same pair every time you rise.
Pride builds the Air 2 with standard U1 batteries and offers a 40Ah class upgrade, and the upgrade is what we stock. The MK M40-12 SLD M is a 12 volt, 45 amp hour sealed AGM battery with the highest capacity of the two. The MK M40-12 SLD G is a 12 volt, 40 amp hour gel battery, and although its amp hour number reads lower, gel handles deep discharges more gracefully, tolerates heat and cold better, and typically delivers more usable cycles over its life. Either way, you move up from the standard U1 range of about 16.8 miles to roughly 19.2 miles per charge.
That extra capacity matters more on this chair than on most, because every elevation cycle costs energy.
