Your Pride Jazzy Elite HD was built to carry more and go further than a standard power chair. A 450 pound weight capacity, dual motor front wheel drive, and 14 inch knobby drive tires that handle grass, gravel, and uneven pavement rather than just smooth floors. Moving that much chair and rider takes real energy, and two 12 volt batteries supply it as a 24 volt pair. After a year or two of daily use they wear down: your range falls off well short of the rated 14.4 miles, climbs feel labored, and charges stop lasting the day.
We fit the Elite HD with MK Powered batteries in two versions and nothing else. The M22NF SLD A is a 12 volt, 55 amp hour sealed AGM battery and the standard choice, delivering the most capacity per charge. The M22NF SLD G is a 12 volt, 51 amp hour gel battery, and while its amp hour number reads lower, gel is the tougher chemistry: it handles deep discharges more gracefully, tolerates heat and cold better, and typically delivers more usable cycles over its life. On a heavy duty chair that works its batteries hard every day, that durability often outweighs the small capacity difference.
MK has supplied the leading wheelchair and power chair manufacturers for decades, and both options are sealed, completely maintenance free, and spillproof, so there is no water to add and no risk of a spill on carpet or in a vehicle. There is no wrong answer between them, only the one that better matches how hard you use your chair and where you store it.
Your batteries ship partially charged, which is standard for safe transport, so give them a full overnight charge before your first outing, then charge daily for the first two weeks while the new pair breaks in.
One habit worth keeping: charge your chair regularly even when you are not using it. Batteries left sitting discharged lose capacity permanently, which is the single most common reason a pair fails early. Shipping is free, your order leaves our warehouse within three business days, and real people answer our phone whenever you have a question.
